Thank you, m'dear! We enjoyed our traditional family dinner yesterday: roast turkey with many wonderful side dishes. All households contributed one or two of their favourite dishes so the workload was shared. I make the cranberry sauce and a root vegetable gratin (rutabaga, turnip and parsnips in a rich sauce of heavy cream and gruyere cheese).
Years ago when we visited a family in the Baltimore area, I recall seening the following words stencilled, in large letters, above the entrance to their dining room: ...."give thanks"......I think of that phrase quite often and try to incorporate it into my life.
