Any dive op recommendations for the Great Barrier Reef?

Finally doing my dream vacation to Australia. It won't be a dive vacation per se, but I will have the chance to spend two days diving the Great Barrier Reef. I'll be staying at the Sheraton Mirage in Port Douglas for a few days, so I'll have a chance to at least do some diving.

The vacation is already booked for January 2014, but I have not made any dive arrangements as of yet. I have absolutely no idea about any of the dive ops there, so I was wondering if anyone could offer some suggestions. Who are the best and who are the ones to avoid? I won't be bringing my own gear on this trip, so I will have to rent gear for the dives.
