    The old saying . . "Do as I say . . not as I do !" . . comes to mind !!!

This needs to be STOPPED !!!! Blowing it up I am sure is the easiest way for them . . but at what cost to the environment that has grown up around it ??

Why can it not be cut up and hauled away as scrap metal . . ????

Some branch of our ENVIRONMENTAL GOVERNMENT should be JUMPING alllllll over this . . ????

Wrongheaded on two counts. The old platforms should be kept as artificial reefs/habitats in the first place. And "blowed up real good" is not the way to remove them.

Strikingly similar to dynamite fishing in SE Asia, except this is sanctioned by a federal government. Hard for us to avoid looking hypocritical when we are criticizing reef blasting overseas.

Glad the practice was videoed and exposed.

    Support HMRMarine,
We are trying to get into this business but using hi pressure water cutting instead of explosives. Maybe our time is finally coming. It takes a little more time but doesn't really cost to much more either.

    Hey Mike,

I like that using high-pressure water cutting technique, although the real issue is not removing the rigs at all as they provide superb habitat & can make for some splendid diving.
